Despite their rocky relationship with this song, Radiohead have a lot to thank ‘Creep‘ for. The song was released on this day 26 years ago through Parlophone Records and, despite not initially charting, paved the way for the band to become one of the most globally well-known.
Frontman Thom Yorke wrote the song before Radiohead had even formed. He recorded an acoustic demo and gave it to future bassist Colin Greenwood, who joined Yorke and helped put the band together. The song would later appear on the band’s 1993 debut album ‘Pablo Honey‘ and eventually reached No. 7 on the UK charts.
Numerous live outings, radio plays and terrible X Factor covers later, ‘Creep’ remains one of the best songs ever written. So hit that play button and blast it loud and proud.
